John
C. Reed, MD has served as the National Medical Director
of American WholeHealth from 1996 to the present. He is
a board-certified family physician, graduating from the
University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Reed
has earned national recognition for his clinical skills
in alternative disciplines including holistic medicine,
acupuncture, cranial osteopathy and homeopathy. He served
as the President of the Arizona Board of Homeopathic Medical
Examiners from 1987–1993. He was the Founding Vice
President of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture,
and a founding member of the American Holistic Medical
Association. |
Dr.
Reed founded a physician-driven alternative medical team practice
in 1982, and then merged the practice in 1995 with the Mercy
Healthcare of Arizona integrated delivery system to help launch
the Arizona Center for Health and Medicine, an integrated
medicine group practice. At American WholeHealth he directed
the formation a large multi-city interdisciplinary CAM medical
group organization and a practitioner training program to
service the American WholeHealth health care center operations
from 1996 through 2000. He currently oversees the Medical
Affairs department of the AWH health care networks operations,
a national program of over 25,000 CAM practitioner types providing
covered and discount access services to health plan and association
members.
Dr. Reed is Senior Consultant for Program Development at the
University of Maryland Center for Integrative Medicine. He
has been a faculty member of the HMI/UCLA medical acupuncture
course from 1985 to 2001. He was a consultant for the NIH
Office of Alternative Medicine from 1991-93.
